The TBI is sounding the alarm over the opioid epidemic in Tennessee, and now they say 10 new drug agents will help combat the problem that they're seeing more and more away from major cities.
With rural areas outside of cities like Nashville growing, the TBI says they're seeing bigger amounts of drugs and crime in smaller towns.
"We've got a serious issue, and we've got drug dealers taking advantage of vulnerable people out there," said T.J. Jordan, TBI Assistant Director overseeing the Drug Investigation Division. "Unfortunately, it's leading to death and destruction."
