NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Customers of one Green Hills nail salon are going to have to find another place to get their nails done.

Friday afternoon, state regulators shut down the salon that had been the focus of a recent NewsChannel 5 investigation.

Vie Active Salon, also known as Lee's Nails on Bandywood Drive, is owned by Lee Phan. He's the man who NewsChannel 5 Investigates found was selling fraudulent state cosmetology licenses to Vietnamese immigrants nearly two years ago.

A state investigation confirmed that. In early January, a judge revoked Phan's own cosmetology license.

Now, the Tennessee Commerce and Insurance Department has found Phan tried to conceal his ownership of the salon by listing an employee as the owner on the salon's state license.

The state said that means the salon's license is not valid.

On Friday, regulators notified the business that it's operating illegally and it may not reopen until a new license is applied for and approved.

Investigators also warned the shop's employees that if they're found doing nails there before that happens, they'll be cited for working in an unlicensed salon.
