Metro middle school students spent time learning how to dress for success, and many of the men in our our NewsChannel 5 family showed up to help.

Simply learning how to tie a tie can make a boy feel like a man. Wrapping, tucking, cinching, and pulling, the men of McKissack Middle Prep spent Tuesday morning learning life skills and how to tie the perfect knot.

First, the mentors showed the students their favorite techniques passed down from father to son.

By the end of the session, many of the students were ready to fly solo.

"We had our Young Men of Valor program, which was designed to help teach them them how to tie a tie, to dress professionally, and build their own brand,” said Wayne Simpson, who helped organize the event.

They also learned soft skills, like shaking hands, giving eye contact, and speaking clearly when they introduce themselves.

Those who helped the students said the results will speak for themselves. The men from NewsChannel 5 who helped out said it was an amazing experience they’ll never forget.
