Nissan to temporarily close manufacturing facilities throughout the country

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nissan announced that it will temporarily suspend production of its manufacturing facilities in the U.S. starting March 20 through April 6, which includes the mid-state's Smyrna plant.

Company officials say they made the decision "to boost containment efforts where possible around the COVID-19 coronavirus."

But officials say "areas deemed business-essential will operate with enhanced safety measures."

They say there have not been any confirmed cases of at any Nissan facility.
