MANCHESTER, Tenn. (WTVF) — Coffee County authorities have determined that there was no foul play in the death of a Manchester police captain.

Captain Chris Patterson was found dead from a gunshot wound outside of his truck on Blue Springs Road near Manchester on Friday. An autopsy was performed on Sunday.

Coffee County District Attorney Craig Northcott reviewed the preliminary report and said there’s no indication of foul play.

The 42-year-old Patterson was third in command at the police department. He was a veteran of the force for more than 10 years.

He was married with two children.
