NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Hopkinsville police officer, who was shot during a pursuit early Monday morning, is being discharged from the hospital and will be escorted back to his home in Kentucky.

Officer Jeremy Davidson was injured when shots were fired at his cruiser during a pursuit of robbery suspects. He was struck in the head and arm region and taken to Skyline Medical Center.

Davidson is expected to be discharged Tuesday and receive a police escort to his residence.

Four suspects have been arrested in the case.

The incident comes nearly a year after Officer Phillip Meacham was killed in Hopkinsville by a man pretending to be a police officer. Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks said this is a time to be reminded of the dangerous responders face and asks for prayers from the community.
