CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Officials said negligence led to the death of a 7-month-old Montgomery County infant.

Stefany Paige Johnson, 24, was charged in the death of her daughter, Astrid on Friday afternoon. Officials with the Clarksville Police Department said they were called to the 1300 block of Sonja Drive earlier that morning due to reports of a woman yelling and screaming.

When officials arrived on the scene, Johnson was reportedly belligerent and uncooperative. Police said the baby's body was found on the couch.

Johnson reportedly told officers that "Jesus came down and took Astrid to heaven" while she was bathing her.

The suspect was booked into the Montgomery County Jail without bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
