NASHVILLE, Tenn. — With downtown living on the rise in Nashville, many apartment, condo, and buildings that people work in are focused on providing the best experience possible, and one ways they’re doing that is through creating gyms specific for the space.
Derrick Billups with City Fit Concierge started a business to help design gyms in large buildings, providing training in those gyms once they’re built.
“We saw the apartment boom, the corporate boom, the hotel boom and we needed to kind of provide a service that catered to it through fitness and wellness,” Billups said.
While Billups is no stranger to gyms, jumping into the design game was a new venture for him.
“It’s a different animal man, it’s really working hand and hand with the developers, the apartment communities, and understanding the demographic in the millennials that are moving to the community and knowing exactly what they need,” Billups said. “They want convenient services, and that’s what we deliver to them.”
City Fit Concierge launched in Nashville two and a half years ago and has expanded to Raleigh and Orlando, with more than 50 projects underway in the southeast.
Beyond the gym design, City Fit Concierge provides gym management, they teach classes, provide personal training, and they bring massage amenities to apartments, hotels, and corporate offices.
The 505 building in Nashville was the first project in which Billups helped design the gym, and he said as long as the gym can provide an environment that motivates and enables someone to get healthy, he’s done his job.
