NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person is dead and another is injured following a crash on I-24 in South Nashville Saturday morning.
The crash happened just after 4:30 a.m. at Exit 57 of I-24 East near Haywood Lane.
The woman who died in the crash has been identified as 30-year-old Meganne Ball from Nolensville.
According to Metro Nashville police, the preliminary investigation shows that Ball was driving her 2012 Nissan Murano with a passenger, 43-year-old Stephen Hall. For unknown reasons, Ball lost control of the SUV, crashing into a rock wall and rolling the vehicle over.
Ball and Hall were both ejected from the vehicle. Ball died at the scene. Hall was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he is in critical condition. Neither were wearing seatbelts.
While crews were still cleaning up the scene of the crash, a second, separate crash at the same exit took place. No major injuries were reported in it; however, it did involve multiple vehicles.
Eastbound lanes at the exit were shut down temporarily as crews worked to clean up the two scenes.
As of 8 a.m., both crashes had been cleared from the interstate. All lanes have reopened.
