MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police are investigating a shooting outside an apartment complex that left one dead and another injured Friday night.
A little after 11 p.m., officers responded to Campus Crossing Apartments on North Rutherford Boulevard, where they found Montavis Jones, 20, in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. He died from injuries.
Shortly after, a 19-year-old male was brought to Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital with gunshot wounds. He was transferred to a Nashville hospital for surgery and is currently reported in stable condition.
Police say a primary investigation shows a group of people were arguing outside the apartment complex, leading to gunfire. Several vehicles and two apartments were hit by bullets. No other injuries were reported.
Police say they have leads on a possible suspect.
