One dead, one seriously injured in South Nashville shooting overnight

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person is dead and another is seriously injured following a shooting that took place overnight in South Nashville.

According to Metro police, the shooting took place just after midnight at Maury Street and Cannon Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two victims - 43-year-old Zedric Douglas and 53-year-old Stanley Wyatt Jr. - who had been shot, in the street near Douglas's Dodge Charger. The Charger's engine was running and its lights were on and flashing.

Both of the victims were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Douglas died on arrival. Wyatt is in critical condition.

A handgun was found near the driver's side of the Charger.

There is no suspect description at this time; however, detectives are investigating. Anyone with information on the shooting can call Crime Stoppers at (615) 742-7463.
