At the 4th Avenue United Methodist Church in Franklin, volunteers braved soaring heat to help those in need.
Volunteers with "One Generation Away" fanned out along the piles of donated food items Friday morning ready to fill grocery carts for those in need with no questions asked.
Founder Chris Whitney said it's always been that way.
"Being a Pastor, I don't believe Jesus would ask questions. I think he'd just love them and feed them; so that's all we do. We just love them and feed them," said Whitney.
Volunteers said they get a whole lot out of this as well. While the recipients are leaving with carts full of food, the volunteers said they're also getting fed in a spiritual way.
