JOELTON, Tenn. (WTVF) — A woman was killed Tuesday in a chain-reaction crash on Interstate 24.

The five-car collision happened in westbound lanes at mile marker 34 near Joelton.

Heavy traffic congestion had slowed speeds down to 5 mph in the area. Officials with Metro Nashville police said 58-year-old Elizabeth Reese failed to slow down and collided with a Ford Edge.

The impact caused a chain-reaction crash, causing another car to hit Reese’s driver side door.

Reese, of Clarksville, died at the scene. No one else was seriously hurt.

Police said there was no evidence at the scene of alcohol or drug involvement.
