Nashville man killed in targeted shooting, police say

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man was shot and killed in Nashville on Tuesday night.

Metro police said 22-year-old D'andre Whitley was shot while riding in a black Mazda near the Interstate 24/Interstate 65 junction after he left a motel on Brick Church Pike.

The driver of the Mazda later lost control and crashed in the 1600 block of Rosa L. Parks Boulevard around 8 p.m. Officers and paramedics arrived and attempted to treat Whitley, but he died at the scene.

Metro police believe the shooting was targeted, adding that Whitley was shot after leaving the parking lot of the motel where he had been staying.

A suspect has not been named in the shooting and Metro detectives are continuing to investigate. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
