A man was taken to an area hospital following a house fire in La Vergne.
Fire crews were called to the home on John D. Street around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
They said heavy flames were shooting out of one corner of the home when they arrived.
There were several pets inside the home when the fire broke out. Many of them did not survive.
One person was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
Investigators said he was injured while trying to save pets inside the home.
