Fallen Metro Nashville Police Officer, Eric Mumaw, was honored in a memorial at the Opry Mills Mission BBQ.

Mumaw was hailed a Nashville hero after losing his life in February while saving a woman from drowning.

Mumaw's Commanding officer Sebastian Gourdin and Metro Police Chief Steve Anderson were among those who dedicated a new memorial at the restaurant.

It came as the restaurant provided much needed help after his passing.

Officer Gourdin described Mumaw as "a good person and an even better officer." The dedication was bittersweet.

"Like I said, it's a sad, day but its also a happy day because we know when people walking through this restaurant here and look at this wall they'll see Officer Mumaw up there and they'll understand and they'll know exactly what happened, what took place that day," Gourdin said.

Officer Mumaw served with the Madison Precinct for 18 years.

He mostly worked that midnight shift because he always said that's where he felt he could help people the most.
