A set of parents have been arrested and booked into jail in Sumner County after their child died in a hot car in Gatlinburg.

The Sumner County District Attorney said Jade and Anthony Phillips have been arrested in connection to the death of their 2-year-old.

According to WVLT in Knoxville, the Jade was Westmoreland Mayor Jerry Kirkman's daughter and the 2-year-old was his grandchild.

Gatlinburg Police found the little boy dead just before 2 p.m. on July 14 after one of the parents called 911 to report they left their son in a vehicle overnight.

Anthony and Jade were indicted on several charges including first degree murder and aggravated child neglect.
