NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — It was a murder that shocked a community: a young musician, who police say was shot and killed by a group of kids -- one as young as 12 years old.
Now for the first time, Kyle Yorlets' parents are talking about their son's murder.
They spoke exclusively with NewsChannel 5 about a new Facebook Page called "Justice for Kyle Yorlets," designed to keep people up to date on what's happening in the legal case against the teens.
The parents also weighed in on the behavior of some of the teens, who were kicked out of the courtroom by a judge at a recent hearing for laughing and talking to each other.
"My thought was they don't really care," said Larry Yorlets. "In their mind, they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, and nothings going to happen to them."
The Metro Police juvenile Crimes task force is investigating the larger issue of youth crime in Nashville.
