CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Clarksville left one man dead and another flown to the hospital with critical injuries.

The crash happened in the area of the 41A Bypass on Ashland City Road.

Police say the driver, Michael Darling, 30, for an unknown reason, crossed the center turn lane, went off the roadway and down a steep wooded embankment.

Darling was airlifted to a Nashville hospital and is in critical, but stable condition.

The passenger, Jered Woody, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed at this time; the investigation is ongoing.
