Pedestrian Dies From Injuries After Being Hit By Car In Walmart Parking Lot

LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. – A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car while walking in a Walmart parking lot.

Officers said the incident happened Thursday at the Walmart in the 2100 block of North Locust Avenue.

A driver, identified as 85-year-old Hugh Porter Pilkinton, of Ethridge, left a parking spot near the front of the store and turned left near the entrance. At the same time, 75-year-old Clarence Gene Keeter, of Lawrenceburg, left the store and walked through the pedestrian crossing area of the parking lot.

Police said Pilkinton struck Keeter with the front of his vehicle.

Keeter was taken by Life-Flight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and passed away Friday.

Pilkinton was not injured in the incident.

Authorities said the investigation was ongoing. No criminal charges had been filed.
