A pedestrian died when he was struck by a semi in an area near the courthouse in Crossville.
The incident happened Monday on Main Street near the Cumberland County Courthouse.
The truck hit and killed 85-year-old Vertie McNeeley. Witnesses told police traffic was stopped on Main Street, at the 4th Street red light, but as McNeeley stepped into traffic, the truck began to move under the green light.
He was near the the front passenger corner of a semi-truck and was struck, knocked to the ground and subsequently run over.
Officials said McNeeley was transported to Cumberland Medical Center where he later died.
No criminal charges were expected in the case.
