Pedestrian hit, killed by a vehicle in Germantown area of Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A woman was hit and killed be a vehicle Tuesday afternoon in Germantown.

Metro Nashville Police officials say the 59-year-old Belinda Ann Browning, of Nashville, was hit by a car while crossing Rosa L. Parks Boulevard north of Monroe Street.

Police say Browning was walking west to east at the 1300 block at 2:15 p.m. when she was hit by a 2009 Nissan Versa.

David Lee Towe, 26, of Madison, was driving at the time. He told officers when he saw Browning, he braked hard, but could not stop before striking her. Browning was not in a crosswalk when she was hit and officers say the nearest crosswalk was about 300 feet away.

No charges have been filed. The crash is still under investigation.
