A pedestrian was killed in a crash on South Church Street in Murfreesboro.
The wreck happened around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 2000 block. Police stated a pedestrian crossing the street was hit by a 2018 Honda Fit.
An investigation showed the vehicle was headed south when the pedestrian was hit.
Authorities identified the pedestrian as 39-year-old Douglas Burton, of Murfreesboro. He was treated at the scene before being taken to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital. Burton was then taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he later passed away.
Officials identified the driver of the Honda Fit as 72-year-old John Woodall, of Lebanon. He was not injured in the crash.
It was unclear if charges would be filed as the investigation continued.
