A man crossing the street near a cemetery was hit and killed by a car near Donelson.

The crash happened in front of the Mount Olivet Funeral Home and Cemetery in the 1200 block of Lebanon Pike around 11:45 p.m. Friday.

The 32-year-old driver who hit the pedestrian stopped and called police.

The victim, identified on Saturday as 33-year-old Bemis Grundy, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

Reports stated Grundy had been walking east on the side of the right lane of travel when he was hit by an eastbound 2005 Toyota Solara.

The driver of the Solara told police she didn't see him until right before she hit him.

Authorities said there was no evidence of drug or alcohol use in the crash. No charges were expected.
