NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A pedestrian was critically injured Sunday afternoon after he was struck by a vehicle in Nashville.
The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. on Murfreesboro Pike, not far from Millwood Drive.
Officials with Metro police said 62-year-old David B. Jones was crossing the road when he was struck by a vehicle being driven by 63-year-old Emmy Wishum.
According to officers, Jones was not in a crosswalk.
Wishum told police that she had turned right onto Murfreesboro Pike from Millwood Drive and swerved into the left lane when she noticed a man standing in front of her. Wishum said she could not avoid hitting him.
Investigators said both Jones’ presence in the roadway and an improper turn by Wishum were factors in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
