CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A pedestrian has succumbed to her injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Montgomery County.
The incident happened overnight on Fort Campbell Boulevard near Avalon Street in Clarksville.
Officials with the Clarksville Police Department identified the victim as 41-year-old Christie Melton.
Details about exactly what happened were not released, but police said the driver of the vehicle that hit Melton was a juvenile. They did not say if the driver was to blame for the crash.
It was an ongoing investigation, but it was not clear if police expected to file charges.
Melton suffered severe injuries and was transported to Gateway Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area while officials remained on the scene.
