The 9th Annual Ms. Cheap Penny Drive kicked off Monday, benefiting the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.
The woman behind, Mary Hance, said it all said it's counter-intuitive to her well-known moniker.
"This is the one time I won't say stay cheap!" she said.
One in seven Tennesseeans are at risk of hunger, including one in five children.
