Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said the victim, identified as 40-year-old Doniyor Abdumadjidov, was delivering a pizza when he got into some sort of confrontation and was shot.

He had been sent to make a delivery in the 2700 block of Batavia Street, but police said the person who lives at the address for the order stated they had not placed the order.

Police said a driver pulled up just after 1 a.m. Friday to find Abdumadjidov lying in a pool of blood and called authorities.

Abdumadjidov was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was listed in critical, life-threatening condition on Friday.

On Saturday, authorities confirmed Abdumadjidov had passed away.

The owner of the pizza business, New York Pizza on Elliston Place, stated Abdumadjidov had just moved here from Uzbekistan and has a wife and four children.

A gofundme account has been set up to help his family.*

Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
