CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police say juveniles in Clarksville caused more than $300,000 in damage at an office building. When officers asked them why they did it, the teens told them they were "bored."
The juveniles are 10, 13, 14 and 16 years old. Police say they damaged the Eubanks business office on Eubanks Drive over the weekend.
The damage varied throughout the entire building. Windows were broken, appliances destroyed. Furniture, fixtures and plumbing were all damaged. The carpeting inside the building was damaged, spray painted graffiti on the walls, and fire extinguishers had been discharged.
Police say the believe the teens likely tried to disable the surveillance system, which resulted in burnt wiring.
The juveniles were identified and detained Sunday. They told detectives they had been in the building on more than one occasion, they were bored, and “flipped the place upside down."
The 13 and 14-year-old girls were charged with felony vandalism. The 16-year-old boy left his residence before he could be served with the juvenile petition for felony vandalism and the 10-year-old was not charged due to his age. The juveniles were left in the custody of their families.
