NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man is facing charges after police say he attacked and choked out a woman after offering her a ride home.

The incident happened August 2 on Glastonbury Road.

The victim told police she had been walking from work to a bus stop on Murfreesboro Pike when 23-year-old Joequarius Williams stopped to offer her a ride home. The woman accepted.

She told police Williams began making sexual advances towards her during the ride home.

When they arrived at the victim's apartment complex, she quickly got out of the car. Surveillance video shows Williams jog after her after she walked out of his view.

The victim told police Williams attacked her in a breezeway, putting her in a choke hold until she lost consciousness.

The woman awoke to find herself being dragged across the parking lot. That's when Williams choked her out again.

The woman told police Williams took off after he was apparently frightened off by a maintenance man.

Williams was driving a black Dodge Charge with damage to the right front bumper.

Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Williams is asked to contact the MNPD’s Sex Crimes Unit at 615-862-7540.

Williams is in jail on a $80,000 bond.
