Police: Deputy imposter attacks man with wooden board in downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man claiming to be a deputy is accused of violently attacking someone in downtown Nashville.

The incident happened overnight Tuesday on 2nd Avenue North and Union Street.

According to a Metro Nashville police affidavit, the victim was sitting on the sidewalk when a man claiming to be a deputy approached him and began yelling.

The suspect swung a wooden board at him, causing him to fall to the ground. Police say the suspect got on top of him and began hitting him with his fist. A witness corroborated his account of what happened.

Police later arrested 30-year-old Danielle Blackman and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $10,000.
