NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro police have asked the public’s help in identifying the driver who ran over a woman in a parking lot.

The incident happened Monday morning in a Marathon parking lot on Jefferson Street.

Police said 32-year-old Ashley Rodgers was lying down when a car ran over her. She was taken to an area hospital and died during surgery.

Investigators said they’re trying to determine if she was intentionally hit.

Police released a surveillance photo of the car believed to have hit Rodgers. It’s described as a silver 2012 to 2014 Hyundai Elantra.

According to police, the driver went to the parking lot of a nearby Wendy’s restaurant after running over Rodgers. The driver fled the area just before officers arrived.

Anyone with information about the Elantra, including whether Rodgers may have had any connection to its driver, was asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
