Metro Nashville police arrested a man in connection with a break-in at a downtown restaurant early Thursday.
Security guards told police they saw a man breaking into Trattoria il Mulino on 5th Avenue South at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday. They reported the man was able to get into the restaurant by breaking open one of its tarp windows.
Officers said the man was drunk at the time. He attempted to get cash from the register and beer from the beer taps.
Investigators said the man was unsuccessful at getting either.
The suspected burglar was identified as Edward Johnson, Jr. After his arrest, police say Johnson explained he went into the restaurant to try to get something to eat.
Johnson is charged with burglary and was held in jail on $6,000 bond.
