NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A driver has been killed in a crash on Highway 100.

Officers said they responded to the wreck at Old Harding Lane Sunday afternoon.

According to reports, a witness saw a Chevy Camaro stopped in a ditch on the side of the road.

Police said that vehicle was driven by 63-year-old Ben F. Posey, Jr. of Franklin.

Authorities said Posey drove into a wooded area a short time later and hit a tree, but officials confirmed several people pulled him from the car before it caught on fire.

Posey was taken to the emergency room at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Officials said they were awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine if Posey suffered from a medical condition. The investigation was ongoing.
