Police Identify Fatal Stewart Co. Crash Victim

One person was  killed in a Stewart County single-vehicle crash on highway 232.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol's preliminary report, 18-year-old Jonathan M. Cottrel was killed in the crash.

Police said he was riding in a car with three other people. The driver was 21-year-old Cydney Jahnke, and the two other passengers were a 15-year-old girl and second juvenile girl.

None of the people in the Chevrolet Silverado had seat belts on.

The report stated that Cottrel was driving northbound on highway 232 and failed to negotiate the curve to the left.

The car left the road on the right side and traveled down a small embankment. The passenger side of the car hit a tree causing it to flip, hit a second tree the come to rest on its top.

Charges were pending in the case.
