Ellington Parkway has reopened after a murder investigation forced its brief closure Wednesday morning.
The roadway was blocked for hours Wednesday morning, narrowing traffic down to just one lane. This was connected to a deadly shooting back in 2016.
However, when Metro Nashville Police officers got to the scene, they found out the driver – Ryan Trent – had actually been fatally shot.

In an effort to move forward in the case, East Precinct officers and detectives blocked off the road in the area where Trent's truck came to rest.
Their goal was to try to find drivers who may have seen or heard anything back on the morning it happened.
Trent had been driving home from work that morning, and now his family, who lives in East Tennessee, are longing for answers.
They've even come out to the crash scene to look for evidence themselves and offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
The $10,000 offer is good until November – that’s in addition to reward money of up to $1,000 being offered by Nashville Crime Stoppers. Anyone with information should call at 615-74-CRIME.
