Metro Nashville police investigated a deadly crash in the westbound lanes of I-24 near Whites Creek early Tuesday morning.
The crash was reported at about 1:45a.m. near the Old Hickory Boulevard exit of I-24. According to police, 32-year-old Dallas Humphrey Jr. was driving an Infinity sedan rear-ended a tractor trailer that had been parked on the shoulder of the interstate. Humphrey Jr. died at the scene. He was the only person in the sedan.
Westbound lanes were shut down for the investigation. All lanes reopened at about 5:30a.m.
Nashville police said the truck driver, 53-year-old Bukari Yobonta was ticketed for parking illegally on the side of the highway.
Officials said evidence suggested Humphrey Jr. had some kind of alcohol involvement. Toxicology testing will be conducted to determine whether he was impaired.
