A shooting that killed one person outside of the Southwood Park Apartments near the Nashville airport was believed to be drug related.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said the call was initially dispatched as a car crash on the 200 block of Southwood Park Place just before 6 p.m. Friday.

Once at the scene, first responders found that the driver had suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.

Officers believed the man, now identified as 30-year-old Omar Dante Lindsey, was shot in the vehicle with two other men inside. The car then rolled into a retaining wall.

Witnesses told police they saw the vehicle hit the wall and three men, including Lindsey, get out of the car and run away from the scene.

However, Lindsey collapsed within a few feet of the car.

The other two men got into a Dodge Charger and fled the scene. A witness took down the Charger’s license plate number and gave it to officers.

The Charger has been recovered abandoned in the James Cayce public housing development.

Anyone with information on the two suspects has been asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
