MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - An investigation got underway in Murfreesboro after a man was shot and taken to an area hospital.
The incident was reported before 5 a.m. Thursday at 417 South University Street, located not far from Mercury Boulevard and Southeast Broad Street.
Police confirmed they were called to the area due to a shots fired call and found the victim in the street. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A woman at the scene spoke to NewsChannel 5 and said she is the victim's aunt. She said the victim is in his 30s and was shot at least 13 times, including the head.
South University Street was blocked while the investigation continues.
