A man has been charged in connection with what police called the “brutal stabbing” of his roommate East in Nashville.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 28-year-old Clint Osborn was charged with criminal homicide in the stabbing death of his housemate, 61-year-old Alan Edwards.

On Sunday, two of Edwards’ friends received odd text messages from Edwards’ phone. They went to the home to check on him Sunday, but knew something wasn't right when they got inside. Osborn answered the door, but he and his female friend were the only ones inside - no Edwards.

Osborn allegedly acknowledged that he had been sending messages from the Edwards' phone. That's when one of the friends asked police to go check on Edwards.

Officers went to the Barclay Drive home Sunday where no one answered; so officers made a forced entry into the home.

Once inside, they found Osborn and the woman along with a gruesome discovery. Blood was visible and there was an odor of decomposition in the home.

Osborn and the woman were detained at the scene. After obtaining a search warrant, police said Edwards’ body was found in a basement closet stuffed into a large plastic container that had been covered and duct taped.

According to investigators, he appeared to have been stabbed to death.

When questioned by police, the woman reportedly made statements implicating Osborn in the murder. Detectives said Osborn would not answer questions.
