Update: A suspect wanted in connection with a deadly shooting at a South Nashville apartment complex has surrendered to police.

Police have identified a suspect in connection with a deadly shooting in South Nashville on Thursday night.

The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. on Tanglewood Court near Harding Place.

According to Metro police, 23-year-old Jamaal Zakiya was shot and killed inside his Tanglewood Court apartment. Investigators identified 20-year-old Kardeceo Dardy as the suspect, saying the two were acquaintances and had argued over money throughout the day.

Police said the fight reportedly escalated when Zakiya would not drive Dardy home until Zakiya received gas money.

An arrest warrant has been issued charging Dardy with criminal homicide. Anyone seeing him or knowing his whereabouts was urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
