NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man has been arrested in Nashville after police say he used a counterfeit check and ID to buy a watch valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars.
According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville police, Michael Simmons used a fake ID with the victim’s name and address to receive a package from a UPS driver.
Simmons allegedly took the package – containing a watch valued at $640,000, including shipping – and placed it in his vehicle.
Police said Simmons paid for the watch with a counterfeit check using the victim’s name and bank account information.
He’s been charged with identity theft.
