Police Remind Citizens Of Golf Cart Regulations

Posted

Officials with the Franklin Police Department reminded community members of the dangers that come along with driving or riding in a golf cart.

Officials said they've been getting complaints about unlicensed, young drivers on the road with golf carts. In response, police have stepped up patrols.
Four years ago, a 15-year old was killed in a tragic golf cart accident. Ryan Tropauer and three other friends were driving down a hill in Franklin when the golf cart blew a tire, lost control, and crashed into a mailbox.

With the arrival of summer break, Franklin police used the incident to remind parents and their children the driving those carts on city streets is illegal.

Anyone caught operating the carts illegally will be cited.
