HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WTVF) — Three Hopkinsville resident have been arrested after police were dispatched to their home for an animal complaint.

When officers arrived at the home of Tija Encinias, 30, Danny Encinias, 29, and Jonathon Trotter, 20, they found four very malnourished dogs that were not being fed or being taken care of properly.

This was not the first time police had been called to this residence in reference to the dogs being underfed. In the past, the owners advised the officers that they would take the animals to the vet for medical attention. However, officers say it was clear this had not happened as the dogs had only deteriorated in health over time and were in need of immediate treatment.

One of the dogs was so malnourished that its entrails were protruding from its body.

All four of the dogs were seized and taken to the Christian County Animal Shelter.

All three residents of the home were arrested.
