According to police, the body of woman found in ditch in northeast Nashville could be that of a missing 26-year-old.
Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said the body was discovered Monday evening in a ditch in the city's Madison neighborhood along Hudson Road near Pineywood Acres Drive.
Early reports suggested that an approximate age couldn't immediately be determined because of the level of decomposition.
However, on Tuesday, police said they were looking into whether or not it was the body of a 26-year-old woman who was reported missing by her family earlier Monday.
Investigators also could not immediately determine whether or not foul play was involved. An autopsy will be performed.
An initial autopsy examination of the remains today did not indicate a cause of death. Efforts are continuing to positively identify the deceased through her fingerprints.
