A woman was killed and her brother was injured in a double shooting in Nashville.

Metro Nashville Police officers said there was an exchange of gunfire in the 3700 block of Village Trail Tuesday night.

Reports stated 19-year-old Janesia Young was killed. Her brother, 26-year-old Deangelo Young, was injured. He was recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Authorities said it appeared Young had made plans to meet her ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old Andre Jones, at a convenience market on Murfreesboro Pike, so he could give belongings back to her that she had left at his apartment.

Young went with her boyfriend, 21-year-old Azariah Suttles, while Jones was accompanied by his friend, 29-year-old Jediah Stovall.

A fight broke out between Young and Jones during  the meeting, and police said Jones and Stovall left the market.

They allegedly headed toward Village Trail and were reportedly followed by Young and Suttles.

After a short time, people in two other vehicles arrived, and detectives said they believe those people were called there by Young.

Young's brother, Deangelo, was in one of those vehicles.

At least one person in those vehicles opened fire on Jones. Stovall then reportedly fired back.

Young was hit and and killed in the exchange. Her brother and another man placed her in a vehicle and drove to the Exxon in the 2200 block of Brick Church Pike where officers were flagged down.

It was unknown if Young and her brother were hit by friendly or unfriendly fire. Officials said they were working to determine the identity of the gunman and all the persons involved.

Two pistols were found and recovered from the scene.

This marked the 71st homicide this year in Nashville.
