A man has died following an early-morning shooting in North Nashville.

The incident was reported before 6 a.m. Tuesday on 22nd Avenue North near Formosa Street.
Metro Nashville Police said 41-year-old James Q. Turner was getting in his car to go to work when he was shot multiple times.

Officers responded and found Turner lying on the road near his vehicle. He was taken to an area hospital where he died.
The motive for the shooting remained unknown.
A neighbor reported hearing at least eight shots and ducked for cover.

Multiple officers were called to the scene. The area has been roped off with crime scene tape.
No suspect description was available.
