NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man was killed after being hit by a train in the West Meade area of Nashville.
Metro Nashville Police say the man was walking on the train tracks near the Davidson Road crossing just after 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon when he was hit and killed by the train.
He has been identified as 49-year-old Michael Douglas Johnson from the Nashville area.
According to police, witnesses said that Johnson did not respond to the repeated blasts of the trains horn before he was struck.
A set of earbuds and a broken cell phone was found near the man's body.
It is not yet clear why Johson was walking on the tracks. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
