One person was killed in a shooting in Nashville near Jefferson Street.
Dispatch confirmed the shooting happened in the 600 block of Joseph Avenue before 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Riverchase apartment complex.
Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said one person was found in a parking lot with a gunshot wound to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene. On Friday morning, officials identified the victim as 17-year-old Kennda Watkins.
Witnesses reported seeing two men fleeing from the scene.
The suspects were reportedly armed with a pistol and got into a large, white truck headed toward Dickerson Pike.
According to information gathered by detectives, one suspect was wearing a white or light gray hoodie, and a second suspect was wearing a red and black hoodie. They allegedly came from the side of one of the apartment buildings and opened fire on Watkins before fleeing from the scene.
