NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Metro police said they're searching for a hit-and-run driver after a pedestrian was killed just south of downtown Nashville.

The crash happened at 10:50 p.m. Sunday on Murfreesboro Pike, near Wilhagan Road.

Police said 70-year-old Jeanne Marie Rossi was visiting Nashville with her sister and had been staying at the Best Western hotel on Murfreesboro Pike.

Rossi, her sister and a friend were walking back to their hotel after having dinner when she was hit. Police said they were in the Murfreesboro Road crosswalk.

Rossi died at the scene.

Her sister and friend were walking ahead of her and did not get a good look at the vehicle, police said. Parts from the car, which police say is likely a Chevrolet, were collected.

Police said the car will have recent and significant front end damage.

Anyone with information was asked to call the Emergency Communications Center at 615-862-8600.
